RECAP

Brad Patton (Land O Lakes, FL) was in the middle of the pack at the start of Day 2, which saw 119 players return to battle for the top 63 spots.  Just like the General he shares a name with, he fought his way to the final table and came out on top of a three-way chop.

Patton seemed to fly under the radar as other players claimed and lost the chip lead at this final table.  He didn’t move into the lead until after eliminating Rajesh Kumar in 4th place.  At that point, Patton agreed to an even money chop.  Finish positions were determined by chip counts, so Patton got 1st place and the signature Hard Rock guitar trophy.

This event had six starting flights spread over three days and drew a total of 664 entries, just a few shy of the number needed to cover the guarantee.  The $200,000 prize pool was distributed to the final 63 players.

Derek Smith was the chip leader by a large margin coming into Day 2, but he busted out in 22nd place ($1,100).  Thomas Mavor was second in chips at the start of Day 2 and he held on to make the final table, eventually finishing 8th.

Brad Patton is a local who works in the Finance industry, and said he “has to be at work in about seven hours”, so that helped encourage the deal among the final three players.  Plus they had been playing for more than 13 hours today.  This is Patton’s largest tournament cash and first title won here at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa!
